Price Check

One of (if not the) most popular PCPs to ever hit the UK airgun scene. The Air Arms S410 comes in both carbine and classic lengths and is favoured amongst hunters and target shooters alike. Air Arms designed this precharged pneumatic with the intention of producing a stylish multi-shot hunting instrument.

The S410 features a removable 10 shot rotary magazine which is self indexing on each pull of the cocking bolt, and whilst the 10 shot magazine proves vital to any hunting rig, Air Arms produced the same airgun in a single shot format referred to as the "S400" which caters perfectly to the target shooter.

The S410 is a very rugged airgun that has been tried and tested, a recommended choice for those buying their first pre-charged pneumatic airgun, as most importantly it is fairly inexpensive to acquire and there are ALOT of after market parts available for further customisations.

Features:
- Traditional bolt action
- Stainless steel filling connector with in-line 20 micron filter
- Optional moderator
- Trigger mounted safety
- Adjustable two stage trigger
- 10 shot magazine
- Built-in manometer
- Rifle and carbine length actions

You don't know how special until its too late..

A mint condition s410k with the walnut / rosewood endcap stock is a piece of kit that functions and also looks great.. picked mine up secondhand for about 400 a good few years ago. Now sold, I'm back to give my opinion on it solely because the gun deserves the recommendation.

For someone starting in the airgun field, this rifle already comes highly regarded as the ideal starter pre-charged pneumatic. As per the title of this review, if you are new to this sport and have not shot many other airguns you might make the mistake of letting her go to sale without having the experience of what else is on the market (just as i did).

Accuracy, balance, fit and finish are three good points that make this rifle shine amongst the competition, highly customisable and easy to work on (strip, tune and trigger adjustments) makes for a user friendly experience. The s410 is a popular pelletgun so you will find after market parts readily available for both the s410 and s400 models - just make sure you try to get the pre anti-tamper version if this is your intention..

As standard, the s410 has a pretty thin barrel which is prone to knocks and appears generally inadequate. I purchased an s200 mk3 barrel and had it machined to fit (see picture) which on paper didn't effect my chronograph results (for better nor worse) but i can confirm it did noticeably help push the effective range from 40 yard ragged one hole groups to 55-60 yards (same type groupings with same scope, mounts and pellets setup), for a sub 12ftlb airgun without any other additional modifications this is already highly impressive.

my two gripes with this air rifle;

The trigger safety. Always was I hesitant to use this if I had already cocked the rifle and then decided to dis-engage.. yes, you can always uncock the rifle whilst pointing in a safe direction but then you run the risk of double loading your next pellet. My recommendation is to swap out the standard trigger for a rowan engineering one as to remove the safety button altogether, the original safety combined trigger blade does nothing except ruin the fluid motion of your trigger pull anyways.

All in all the price, looks, weight, accuracy, modifications and functionality of this rifle make it worth a gander.. Although this model is getting a bit old now, for a newbie airgunner it is most definitely worth a look - s410 for hunting, s400 for target shooting.. you cant go wrong with either one.

Pros
**balanced
**good looking
**highly customisable
**easy to strip down
Cons
**no anti double load feature
**safety on the trigger is.. cheap / a bad idea

A Classic

What a beauty. My first impression was why pay half as much again for Daystate?
Had a Supalite now for over a year, it is a joy to use and very accurate. I use it for rabbit control around my holding and on other farms. It will kill humanely at over 50 yards, mated to a good quality ( Hawke ) sight these carbines are unstoppable.
A few niggles. I did not like the AA bolt handle, too chunky for me. Replaced with a Rowan steel handle this improves the handling and looks. The trigger mounted safety is a pain, as is the chance of double feed. The magazine would benefit from being metal. Just small niggles.
Overall I would rate this as a super little rifle.

Pros
A superb rifle for pest control.
Good shot count.
Charger is superb.
Well built, a feel of quality.
Lovely stock.
Cons
Dislike the trigger mounted safety.
Magazine sits very high, this means low profile sights cannot be mounted.

s410 carbine

If I could choose one word to describe the S410 carbine it would be quality. I am very impressed with the features and all the little details this rifle has, especially when compared to much more expensive rifles. It is the little things that count and this rifle has those little things; from very useful things like an easy loading mag and quick fill, to little details that set this rifle apart from the others, like the beautiful checkering of the wood and the decorative machining on the fill cap and barrel thread protector. It's so nice to see a company that still puts out a quality product rather than skimping on as much as possible in order to cut down on production costs. What i like about this rifle it has more features and decorative goodies than rifles twice the cost. I would like to mention that the stock that came on my S410 Carbine is honestly the best factory walnut stock I have seen. I thought the stock I had on my Daystate mk3 was great but is better. The only area I see the S410 suffers is in shot count, but what it lacks in shot count the S410 Carbine offers so much more, and it's very easy to get spoiled shooting this rifle. All in all a good hunting and target shooting rifle [i shoot hft] and won’t break the bank.

Pros
value for money
well made
british easy to get parts
Cons
low shot count [carbine]

S410 classic

Before I start I will say my s410 classic is my first rifle so I am by no means an expert on air rifles or have vast experience with others for comparison . The s410 classic is in my opinion a great rifle . It shoulders easily ( for me anyway ) , I have the beech stock as I will be using it as a tool not an ornament but it's still a nice looking stock with nice chequering details along forfend and grip finished off with a 2 colour (rosewood/light wood ?) cap which is a nice touch . The bluing is not as deep as some rifles I have seen but if cleaned after use should last a good few years . The bolt action is slightly stiff to operate but after a tin or so of pellets glides smoothly and is easy to use . Loading the magazine is easy and cycles faultlessly time after time making follow up shots extremely quick . Accuracy wise it's up there with any of the modern pcps ( even I got a 49/60 first time on a hft course ! ) but doesn't like cheap pellets ! Filling is easy , just screw off cylinder cover , fit brass adapter (supplied with rifle ) attach pump/bottle and fill . I get around 70 full power shots from a charge which is more than enough for a days hunting or a ft/hft course . The rifle comes with one ten shot magazine and spares can be bought for around £30 . All in all a great rifle and in my opinion ( and many others ) the best £ for £ rifle available .

Pros
Accurate , solidly built , decent shot count , excellent value for money !
Cons
Safety could be better placed

Work horse

I've owned my s410 k for over a year, it hasn't let me down yet and continues to bag bunnies and wood pigeons on every outing, The s410 is a true hunting rifle any forum discussion would tell you this.

Pros
Overall quality / finish is very nice, well balanced and smooth pullback / repeat-ability.
Cons
Double loading has always been an issue with many pcp rifles i have owned, the s410 does not over come this issue. + the barrel is a bit thin in my opinion.
